Artwork Restoration: Wario

I want to make a poster out of it. There are services like Posterjack where you can upload a picture and they will print a poster in any format you choose. However, there is one problem: the image resolution. That 800x800 pixel image you see on MarioWiki is unfortunately the image with the highest resolution - there is no higher resolution available. Nintendo apparently never released this artwork in higher resolutions.

The website Posterjack told me that the poster quality will turn out awful if I use that 800x800 pixel image so I had to do some research and improve the image quality. I tested many denoise plugins for Photoshop which reduce the JPEG noise on resized images: "Imagenomic Noiseware", "Neat Image", "Picturecode Noise Ninja" and "Topaz Laps DeNoise". Out of all plugins, "Topaz Laps DeNoise" gave the best result. Not only did it significantly reduce JPEG artifacts, I can also change the color settings to make the colors more vibrant. In addition to that I used Photoshop's Blur Tool to soften sharp edges.

So here is the result. This image comes in a 2400x2400 pixel resolution and is now better suited for poster printing than the unedited 800x800 pixel one. I am quite pleased how this turned out. But still... even though the resolution is high, this is far from HD quality. Some parts look too blurry, other parts has less detail, etc... I am no image editing expert so this is all I can do.
